My hair has gotten pretty long lately, considering that a couple of years ago, it was literally shaved. That’s cool, but lately I’ve been wanting to do something with it, I’m just not sure what. The past two or three haircut appointments have started with me whining around and asking for advice for about five minutes, then saying, “Oh, just trim it, and I’ll decide next time.”
Well, today, on the way to the salon, I thought, “Fuck it, I’ll do something,” and after some discussion about my pretty specific hair-style requirements – low-maintenance, not in my face, not too old-ladyish, but age appropriate (we’re walking a fine line there), etc – we decided to take off some length, made it a little more layer-y and I don’t know, something about the sides at the bottom? but left it long enough on top to pull back in a barrette. I’m supposed to think about it, and live with it for a bit and decide if I want to take off more.
I think I do, because while I like the length, and I like it pulled back (although it’s a tiny bit too short to stay securely), when it’s down (and I’ve not just had it blow-dried and styled by a professional, as you see here), the top is kind of flat and weird because the bottom part is layered and it’s not. So, I think I’m going to go back next week, and have her cut layers into the top part, too. I won’t be able to pull it back in a barrette, but I won’t need to. I may actually look at some photos so I can give her an idea what I’ve got in mind. Or, more accurately, so I can get something in mind.
In the meantime, here’s what we’ve got so far.
Oh, and Peeper got a trim and a fancy braid.
