I know I try to be a bit coy about exactly where we live, but I don’t think it’s any big secret that we’re in Pennsylvania. If you haven’t been near a news source today, you might not have heard that federal judge just rule the state “Defense of Marriage Act” unconstitutional. There is a possibility that it will be appealed, of course (especially given our governor) but in the meantime at least, licenses are being issued in at least some counties, and should be in all by tomorrow, and anyone legally married anywhere (like us!) is now married in PA as well.
Shrike is at work (where she was already married before 2:30 pm today) but she just texted me, “Did you ever in a million years think when we started out (in 1997) that this is where we would be?”
No, I don’t believe I did.
I’ve said all along that marriage equality would come “within our lifetime” but I don’t know if I dared to actually believe it, and I never dreamed we’d have come so far so soon. It’s only a matter of time until the various appeals get to the Supreme Court, and that will almost certainly go our way.
